Could you describe your latest book, One Hundred Percent Me?
A little girl is used to hearing questions about her looks all the time. "Where are you from?" "What are you?" These questions are a constant reminder from others that she is different. As she embraces her identity and culture, she teaches others that she belongs, that the differences they notice are part of what make her unique, special, and herself....

Did she once have a sister? Has her mother lied all these years? Why?

After a painful divorce, Maisey Lazarow returns to Fairham, the small island off the South Carolina coast where she grew up. She goes there to heal—and to help her brother, Keith, a deeply troubled man who's asked her to come home. But she refuses to stay in the family house. The last person she wants to see is the wealthy, controlling mother she escaped years ago.

Instead, she finds herself living next door to someone else she'd prefer to avoid—Rafe Romero, the wild, reckless boy to whom she lost her virginity at sixteen. He's back on the island, and to her surprise, he's raising a young daughter alone. Maisey's still attracted to him, but her heart's too broken to risk…

Then something even more disturbing happens. She discovers a box of photographs that evoke distant memories of a little girl, a child Keith remembers, too. Maisey believes the girl must've been their sister, but their mother claims there was no sister.

Maisey's convinced that child existed. So where is she now?

Returning home to heal, Maisey Lazarow but finds herself besieged with questions when her attractive next door neighbor, Rafe Romero finds an old box of photographs, and she becomes convinced the pictures are of her sister in this gripping romantic suspense. Rafe Romero is the single dad of a little girl that steals Maisey’s heart when she’s not looking (mine, too!) and who would like to become part of Maisey’s life but is finding it difficult to get past Maisey’s walls and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as those walls come tumbling down and has her questioning everything she thought she knew about her past and her family. The characters are strong, compelling and demand the reader’s attention as Maisey and Rafe’s attraction spirals from hot to extremely hot despite all the emotional obstacles that has Maisey holding back and the fast paced, smooth flowing plot captivates readers with lots of suspense, turmoil and romance. Expectation and suspense builds lots of tension and draws the readers in as a box of old photographs brings forth vague memories that has Maisey convinced that she had a sister and the closer she gets to finding out what happened to her the more troubled things become causing heated family clashes and emotional strife. Well written scenes and details capture the imagination and the emotional turbulence grips the readers by the heart and ensures that they keep turning the pages. Once again, Brenda Novak keeps readers on the edge of their seat and their heart on their sleeve with a heart gripping tale full of intrigue, charismatic characters and surprising twist that keeps the readers guessing. This new series introduces a new setting that promises to bring forth more wonderful stories to enjoy I was completely taken with Maisey and Rafe’s story and I can’t wait to visit Fairham Island again. 4 ½ STARS
