Synopses & Reviews
The World at Large brings together the best of James McMichael's poetry and includes works that appear for the first time in this volume. With the publication of the new poems, McMichael surpasses even the formally daring and psychologically penetrating poetry that has characterized his work thus far.
Synopsis
"I discovered James McMichael's poetry just two years ago but have become an ardent fan. Each in a Place Apart and Four Good Things are simply the best poetry I have read in years by an American poet, It is good to return them to print in this collection....This is deeply mature and rewarding work and I am a better person and reader for having read it". -- Gerald Early, winner of the 1995, National Book Critics Circle Award for Criticism
