Powell's Staff: New Literature in Translation: December 2022 and January 2023 (0 comment)
It may be a new year, this may be a list of new books, but our love for literature in translation hasn’t changed at all, and we are so pleased to be enthusiastically recommending these recent releases. On this list, you’ll find a Spanish novel where controversy swirls around a Coca-Cola billboard...

Publisher Comments

From the author of the bestselling Anam Cara comes a beautiful collection of blessings to help readers through both the everyday and the extraordinary events of their lives.

John ODonohue, Irish teacher and poet, has been widely praised for his gift of drawing on Celtic spiritual traditions to create words of inspiration and wisdom for today. In To Bless the Space Between Us, his compelling blend of elegant, poetic language and spiritual insight offers readers comfort and encouragement on their journeys through life. ODonohue looks at lifes thresholds—getting married, having children, starting a new job—and offers invaluable guidelines for making the transition from a known, familiar world into a new, unmapped territory. Most profoundly, however, ODonohue explains “blessing” as a way of life, as a lens through which the whole world is transformed.

ODonohue awakens readers to timeless truths and shows the power they have to answer contemporary dilemmas and ease us through periods of change.

(I seem to have posted this comment on the audiobook page - reposting here): This book was a pleasant surprise. Directed towards times of transition and change in our lives, I found it useful and heartwarming at all times. A page opened at random always took me out of the harried chaos of the outer world, and offered a moment of reflection about nature, self, and the present moment. Highly recommended as a gift - to yourself, as well as others!

This is a most wonderful book!! It includes blessings for so many occasions and rites of passage. Because it is spiritual rather than specific to any particular religion, the blessings are perfect for everyone. I have shared the grieving blessing and the meal blessings with so many people. Absolutely a book for every person to have and use.
