Rachel Harrison: Hardcore Heroines: Rachel Harrison’s Bookshelf for ‘Black Sheep’ (0 comment)
Bookshelf organization is deeply personal. Some prefer by genre, by content, others by aesthetic attributes like color and size. I like to put books together that I think would be friends, that would get along or at least wouldn’t mind being neighbors. Books with protagonists that could maybe commiserate while they begrudgingly appear in the back...

Publisher Comments

Finding your dream house with a vineyard in Tuscany is like searching the woods for porcini mushrooms: a labor of love. Such feats require patience, discernment, resolve, and an indestructible sense of humor. The Mátés" future home and wine estate lies amid breathtaking scenery in a community brimming with warmth. In Italy"s most prestigious wine zone, Montalcino, they restore a thirteenth-century friary nestled on two hills within sixty acres of forest, olives, and potential vineyards. Here they plant fifteen acres of vines, build the winery, and learn from their famous vintner neighbors, like Angelo Gaja, the secrets of how to grow the best grapes and make superb wines. Within the first years, the Máté wines receive international acclaim. This highly entertaining tale of how two dreamers struggle and thrive in idyllic Tuscany will enrich the lives of travelers and wine lovers alike.

Synopsis

In this laugh-out-loud tale, two adventurers discover that rare combination: joy and success. Candace, a painter, and Ferenc, a writer, begin a new life near the hill town of Montalcino. They restore a thirteenth-century friary, plant fifteen acres of vines, build a winery, tame a runaway tractor, excavate an Etruscan village, and battle volcanic fermenting vats, while learning from famous vintner neighbor Angelo Gaja the secrets of growing the best grapes and making superb, award-winning wine. This extraordinary tale will enrich the lives of travelers and wine lovers alike. A 2007 Notable Travel Book.

Synopsis
