I enjoyed this thriller that begins with a jealous ex-wife wanting to stop her ex-husband from remarrying. The story is told from the points of view of Vanessa, the ex-wife and the beautiful young fiancé, Nelly. This is a tough book to review without giving away any spoilers. We know from the beginning that it’s a tale of obsession but there are so many twists and turns that what we think is true changes drastically more than once. We know that Vanessa wants to stop this wedding at all cost. She is desperate to keep Richard from marrying her ‘replacement’ (since the two women are much alike yet Nelly is a younger version of what Vanessa once was.) But Vanessa’s reasons for wanting this marriage stopped go beyond jealousy and betrayal, and the truth is stranger and more shocking than we could possibly have predicted because in Vanessa and Richard's marriage, it's more about what we think we see than the real truth. It is only through Vanessa's flashbacks that we suddenly come to see that we've been wearing a blindfold. Though I found Vanessa’s desperation and obsession to be a bit tedious at the beginning of the story, I was drawn into the mystery of trying to figure out what was really going after the first (of several) twists. We think we know everything when we come to the final chapter, the truth about Richard, Vanessa and Nelly. But we don't. This book is well worth reading for the surprising twists alone. Don't marry Richard...you don't know what you are getting yourself into. Vanessa was Richard's first wife and wanted to warn her replacement to not marry Richard. Vanessa also had some mental issues or maybe she didn’t and was made to think she did. The entire book was a guess what or guess who and then it all became changed with a new guess what or guess who. THE WIFE BETWEEN US switches back and forth in time with all the characters. The book gives hints about the main issue, the husband, and his possessiveness, but it is very subtle. THE WIFE BETWEEN US was confusing but a good confusing because the authors wanted it that way….brilliant tactic!! The ending had me saying HMMMMM, but the only way to experience the book is to make sure you read it yourself and form your own opinion. I don't think anyone can tell you what to think or surmise. 4/5 This book was given to me free of charge and without compensation by the publisher in return for an honest review.

I don't want to say much about this book because SPOILERS, but you guys, I YELLED AT THIS BOOK. That is so much not a thing I ever do, and yet it happened, twice, and startled the heck out of my daughter and my dog. I'm usually pretty good with figuring out what's going on, but this book kept me so very unbalanced most of the time that I just didn't know what was up. This is one of the three books I read during this first week of 2018 and it definitely started the year out with a bang. Get yourself a copy right away, but don't start it unless you have time to finish it, it's just that good. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Wife Between Us is a very suspenseful, hard to put down domestic thriller. It's incredibly well-written and engrossing, I was sucked into the story from the first page. One of the lines in the blurb is "Assume nothing" and it’s an excellent advise. Also don’t read any spoilers or discussions before reading the book. For the best experience go in blind, you won't be disappointed. The Wife Between Us is one of the best psychological thrillers I've read and is well worth the hype. I cannot wait to see the movie (which is already in development)

This was one of the most engrossing psychological thrillers I've read that I can think of. It will have you compulsively reading (even when you're unsure of what's really happening), then sometimes re-reading parts of it to make sure you haven't completely lost your mind, which I think the character(s) within (no spoilers intended) often believes is happening. At so many points of the book I felt as trapped and anxious as the characters did and that feeling permeates off the pages. The detail that is in the writing really contributes to how the raw emotions bounce off the pages, and you really feel the grip and control seizing you; I will mention this because the psychological and physical abuse are very real triggers in this book, the whole focus. Somehow authors Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pakkanen give voices to a dual story line with so much detail and nuance, and although you may find yourself going back to check on what you just read, it will just confirm those feelings that they intended. It's such an intense read, seeing the inside of a 'perfect life' getting pulled apart, and all the sordid, sad details unraveled and splayed out for us to see. It's an absolute mind-bender that you must read until the very end to fully understand. This was a real treat!

An extremely suspenseful story, one that had me glued to my chair for hours at a time. In the book’s summary, it states to ‘assume nothing’. This is SPOT ON! I was so caught up in the characters and making assumptions about them, wondering who I could trust when bam, along comes mega twisties to blindside me. A great thriller! If you, like me, dislike romance novels or even romantic thrillers, I promise, THE WIFE BETWEEN US is neither. Although it does describe a love triangle, it doesn't exactly. It seems the ex-wife is stalking and terrorizing the girlfriend, but then it doesn't. No one in this book is as they first seem. It will feel like you are constantly having to revise your understanding of people and events. As a matter of fact, halfway through the book you may want to stop and reread everything you have read so far. And it won't seem that you are reading a romance novel, promise.
