Synopses & Reviews
This United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) publication comprehensively covers the issues related to World Trade Organization (WTO) accession. It is intended to provide a deeper understanding of the difficulties faced by acceding countries, particularly least Developed Countries (LDCs), and to strengthen support for their integration into the international trading system on balanced terms consistent with their development needs. The publication is adopted from an Ad Hoc Expert Group that met in April 2001 to discuss the issue of WTO accession. It includes papers that were presented at the meeting and a summary of the discussions that took place and an in depth analysis by international experts and UNCTAD economists of the key aspects of the accession process to date. Individual country cases are also profiled.
