I am so, so happy Storytime has continued to be restocked past Powell's 50th anniversary. This candle has a gentle throw, yet definitely detectable. I would call it one of those vibes/atmospheric candles that make you go “ooo this smells good!” when you walk into the room as opposed to a being a battering ram on your nostrils. I mainly detect the cardamom and cedar, it is a warm and cozy scent that does not lean overly spicy or fall-ish. It’s not sweet either, more of a fresh, woodsy gourmand. The best mental image I can give you is that you’re standing outside on a new wooden deck catching whiffs of a delicious chai latte in your hand. Wildwood uses wood wicks, which I generally prefer in fall/winter but I’ve been burning this one into spring because the scent feels so season-less. I get a full wax pool around the 3 hour mark, closer to 4 on the first burn or so. There is a teeny bit of wax that remains on the sides of the vessel but no tunneling. And honestly, that probably wouldn’t even be noticeable if the vessel wasn’t clear. Their candles feel huge at 11 oz. and the glass has a nice, weighty bottom which I absolutely love in a candle vessel. I do prefer lidded candles but they at least have a dust cover which I have been replacing between burns. I have really been enjoying this one, my current living situation really calls for candles that are not super intensely scented and, based off this one, Wildwood know how to do a well-balanced candle!
