Never even thought of that...I thought "cookies" were bad enough. I guess if I am signing on to read the Huffington Post I am already on a hit list, huh? I think the Patriot Act needs a new name...something along the lines of "We Know What Brand of Underwear You Have On" Act. My aunt uses a fake name on her store cards (the ones you MUST have to get a discount)She said she does not want them to know how many Little Debbie's she eats!

Hey Denise -- yeah, want to know what's scarier? See how I gave a link to The Times above? I've been reading the paper online for over a decade, and suppose, just suppose, that in a time of financial distress the paper decides to sell the information about what articles I've read? I try to mess with them by clicking on sports, real estate, etc, but still. . .

I was thinking the same thing, Miss Gretchen!! The thought of someone deleting your book just because they CAN...scary. The fact that they even know you HAVE the book - even worse!

Might be a good time to short Amazon.com. That's AMZN on Nasdaq.

re: 1984/Kindle -- I had to look to see if this was April 1st. The thought of an entity zapping a book from my shelf is so horrifying that it gives me shivers. BTW this gives me a chance to say thanks for pointing out that article at The Times (Give Every Student a Kindle,) the comments there by those pointing out the problems with that were fantastic: http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/07/14/democratic-groups-proposal-give-each-student-a-kindle
