No footnotes for DFW? How sad.

Doug, these days Clark Kent uses a Phone Booth app on his iPhone. Gets the job done.

Of course, these days Clark Kent has to jump into a Verizon kiosk at the mall (updating the joke from the '70's movie).

Point taken. I like the handset on the rotary. Makes me feel like I'm in an 80's movie.

Well, Denise, this is book news. Like it or not, e- and i- are where the industry is headed. The vowels will have their day! For my money, it's a good thing. The e- and i-stuff will keep the publishing companies in business, and they'll continue to publish "real" books for the readers who will prefer those. Think of it like the bicycle and the car; sure, the car was faster and became more popular than the bicycle, but I still ride my bike every day, and so do lots of people. Choice is a good thing, whereas bankrupt publishing companies are a bad thing any way you cut it. Then we can enjoy the luxury of making all kinds of snarky comments about the formats we don't like. Personally, I love the sound of a rotary phone dialing -- especially when you have multiple zeroes together.

I cannot believe YOU, of all people, are supplying info on an i-piece of shit! C'mon Brockman, man-up and join those of us in "anti-technology for the sake of technologydom" who are busy saying stuff like, "You will NEVER catch ME with one of those Kindles/iPhone/iBooks (insert your own i-gadget here)!!!! I still read my books like we did in the old days...ON PAPER!!!! Okay, maybe I do still have a rotary phone - deal with it!
