Was just listening to Prof. Ahmed of "Journey Into America" on WTOP, and had the idea, hey Bolton and Heidi and Powell's, can't we have a "Buy a Koran (or other book) on September 11th?" I say "or other book" because at my home we already have a Koran, and really, isn't the act of buying any book a statement that one wants to open one's mind instead of closing it? I was about to exclude certain authors from my statement, but realized, that maybe I should try harder to read an entire book by Mr. X or Miss Y or Mrs. Z, because then I could perhaps develop more compassion towards them, could develop more understanding of why they propose the things they do. For myself, I could buy Professor Ahmed's book Journey Into Islam: The Crisis of Globalization, or, perhaps your own Chris Faatz could write an entry "If you like Rumi, you may like _____." I'm open! I want to open my mind! Not close it! (I already just ordered another copy of 1984 for my niece so I can't go down that path -- I recently received the autographed Shteyngart from y'all so I'm covered on dystopias for the nonce.) Thank you for your consideration!

I once owned a used copy of Infinite Jest. That's all.
