The late Edward Gorey is famous for his illustrations, absurdist stories, ballet fixation, and cats. But Ascending Peculiarity, a wonderful collection of interviews spanning twenty-five years, illuminates Mr. Gorey in a most splendid way. Although his illustrations often have an arch, Victorian tone, Gorey confesses to many lowbrow pleasures, such as being a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This is wonderful reading.
