Diary of a Release Week: Monday

by Seth Grahame-Smith, March 1, 2010 1:47 PM
G'morning from the cockpit, ladies and gentlemen. My name's Seth Grahame-Smith, and I'll be your guest blogger here at Powell's for the week. Our blogging time looks to be about, oh, five days. We expect a smooth read, but please keep those seatbelts fastened in the event we encounter any unexpected double-negatives or clunky transitive verbs.

After 10 incredible months of surfing the unexpected rocket that was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, we're one day away from the release of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. This week I'll be sharing my experiences of the book's first week on shelves from here in Los Angeles (my home base). The truth is, I have no clue what I'll be posting over the next four days. Random musings, reports from book events, a glimpse of my TV day job — perhaps cell phone pics of me eating.

Today starts with an early morning trip to Pasadena, where I'll be taping an appearance for Illinois Public Radio; then a phone interview with GQ (I expect they want to ask me about my legendary male grooming secrets). After that, I plan on spending the rest of the day dry-heaving in my office as midnight — and the release of the new book — approaches.

Hopefully, some of you will be inspired to visit your nearest Powell's (my personal favorite is Cedar Hills Crossing in Beaverton) and pick up a copy of Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.

Oh, and if you haven't already — check out the insanely cool book trailer:
