Broke and living in her family's cavernous townhouse in London, Georgie quickly finds herself embroiled in murder, intrigue, and finding a clandestine job. Along the way she is aided by her clever Cockney grandfather, a fast-living old school chum with a well-stocked closet, and a handsome Irish rogue who isn't quite what he appears to be. Bowen's characters and prose are as lively and engaging as Lady Georgie herself.
