Whether you call it political action, slogan, or aphorism, guerrilla poetry ? the kind you hold in your hand (pamphlet or broadside) or see on the street ? is probably more widely read and thought about than Walt Whitman. Imagine if Republican talking points were turned inside out and given a polish of compassion or truth. Boykoff and Sand, two Portland poets who have long been involved in political and social justice, give us Landscapes of Dissent, an informative and entertaining look at street art and action, by the people, for the people.
