Deep in the woods of Briery Swamp, May Ellen Bird and her hairless Rex, Somber Kitty, stumble into the Ever After, where the motto is "Make the Most of Your Afterlife," and spirits, ghosts, and ghouls are afraid of the Living. Soon May Bird finds that getting back home to the other side means defeating the nefarious dictator of the underworld, Bo Cleevil. Like all good adventures, May Bird and the Ever After is packed with chills, thrills, and unlikely friends. What makes this story unique is Jodi Lynn Anderson's attention to detail, which brings the Ever After to life (so to speak) in all its musty, creepy, decaying glory.
