So many young adult novels are about fighting to be popular, having the best clothes and the hottest boyfriend, and getting away with irresponsible behavior. This is not one of those books. Christine Walde clearly remembers what it was like to be a normal teenager, with real-life concerns. This is a sometimes unsettling novel about what it's really like to be a creative, thoughtful teen.
