I have a hard time turning down a Stephanie Laurens novel, especially since they are such cotton-candy fun. The Elusive Bride, the second book in the Black Cobra quartet, has all the trademark Laurens staples: a valiant but conflicted hero, a strong but vulnerable lady, and a black-hearted adversary — plus a plot that moves quickly with plenty of action. Add some cameos by characters from Laurens's Cynster family and the Bastion Club, and this is a perfect way to escape the world for a while.
