I grew up disliking gardening and thinking of every excuse in the world NOT to do it. I know what it is like to be a beginning gardener, overwhelmed with all of the "what-ifs"... and those uncertainties inspired me to write the
All New Square Foot Gardening Cookbook. I wanted to show readers that growing, harvesting and eating your own vegetables can be simple, fun, and creative.
This week, I am going to count down the garden-dodging Top Ten. And I'll bet that by Friday, you will be ready to start your own Square Foot Garden.
Reason 1: I have no room, my yard is too small, I have no yard.
These days, space is at a premium... but that doesn't mean you can't grow a little something. Try growing in raised beds, vertical trellises, containers on your patio... heck, even a pot on a sunny windowsill!
Reason 2: I don't have a tiller and/or other garden tools.
The great thing about using my Square Foot Gardening method is that you don't need any special tools, just a small trowel... no digging required! And anytime you plant in above- ground containers, you can use a compost from the garden center. No additional work needed.
Growing your own herbs, fruits and vegetables will make all of your home cooked meals more delicious! And, just in case you need fresh food recipes, my cookbook is full of easy to make, tasty dishes.
