A big, juicy feast of a book containing all the elements of a page-turner, but with literary merit.

I did not want to read this book - alligator wresting? - but I succumbed based on Karen Russell's previous novel and short stories. Swamplandia's delicious prose and humor, its fully drawn characters, plus a juicy story add up to the perfect read.

King is at his best in this fictional account of President Kennedy's assassination. Having hinted at the issue of time travel and changing history in the Dead Zone ("Would you murder Hitler if you could?"), King takes it to the limit with this hefty, satisfying story about a time portal and that day in Dallas.
