The Jon Scieszka Event At Powell’s Books

With thanks to a small handful of employees and $6.28 worth of generic masking tape, Powell's Books at Cedar Hills Crossing, Beaverton, had over 500 children's bottoms on the floor to see best selling children's author Jon Scieszka.

The author told tales from his childhood out of his new book Knucklehead; humorous anecdotes about flatulence, charging neighbor kids 10 cents apiece to see his little brother eat cigarette butts, and doing what he and his five brothers called "sword fighting" whilst peeing (or urinating, as his nurse mother corrected them).

All in all, good, clean fun! The kids had a swell time, left with some prizes, and best of all, got to come to Powell's for an hour instead of being at school!

What fun! I love his books. It would have been a blast to see him. Next time.
