Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I highly recommend digging into the recommendations — we would never lead you astray — but today...

I looked at quite a few books on this subject at the local library and found this one to be the most comprehensive. It is readable for a lay person and thorough enough for someone with my training (EMT). It has 366 pages of fine print and is written by a team of 12 doctors, all experts in their respective fields. It is well organized and has adequate illustrations, charts and graphs. There are 25 topic chapters. Five appendixes: Medications, Therapeutic Procedures, Medical Supplies, Legal and Ethical Considerations, and Glossary. Unlike some first aid books claiming to be for the outdoors, this one has excellent application to the wilderness situation.
