It is an honor to be invited to guest blog on the most righteous Powell's Books website.
Let me introduce myself. The name is Keith Knight, Gentleman Cartoonist. I draw three different comic strips: The K Chronicles, (th)ink, and The Knight Life.
And Dark Horse, another literary juggernaut in the Portland area, has released The Complete K Chronicles, which compiles 500 pages of my autobiographical comic strip, just in time for the holidays!! Available at Powell's Books. How convenient!!
But enough about me. Let's talk about the important stuff.

* OBAMA!!
I'm in the awkward position of writing this blog on Oct. 27th, to be posted the week of Nov. 3rd, right in the middle of the most important presidential election of our lifetimes.
I would LOVE to write how confident I am about an Obama win, but there is so much potential for election fraud and other campaign antics that I sit here nervous and sweaty (which isn't all that unusual when I'm on the computer).
What will the final week bring? We've already had white power assassination plots thwarted and opposition volunteers pretending to be assaulted by Obama supporting black men. What else will folks do to prevent an Obama presidency?
Anyhoo... Regardless... I am blown away by the diversity of folks who are contributing to the political cause. From Tina Fey to the the graffiti kid in Denver to director Ron Howard to the guy who did the "Wassup" commercials for Budweiser. Amazing.
Also... If anyone doesn't understand the significance of this election, talk to an African-American over the age of 50. The older, the better.

THINGS I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO IN AN OBAMA PRESIDENCY:
- My newborn, mixed-race kid is gonna have a prez that looks like him.
- When teachers tell their students that they can grow up to be president, the black kids will believe it too.
- The Hall of Presidents at Disneyland and Disney World.*
* Will the George Washington robot tell him to shine his shoes? Will the Thomas Jefferson robot ask Obama if he has a sister? Will the Clinton robot still be mad?
Below are a couple of my favorite toons that I've drawn during the campaign season. If you like 'em, pick up a book!
And write the Portland Oregonian and demand they run The Knight Life!!
Cheers,
Keef
