Foreskins Lament A Memoir
by
Shalom Auslander
aunnie
, July 06, 2009
This book was hilarious. The trials and tribulations of Shalom Auslander versus God kept me in stitches. While serious at points, the seriousness is perfectly balanced with the jocose.

Mercy Papers A Memoir Of Three Weeks
by
Robin Romm
aunnie
, July 04, 2009
I stumbled upon this book accidentally and was pleasantly surprised. Robin Romm is a recently recognized author and this memoir is candid, poignant, and so, so sweet. I am impressed with the way she writes like a seasoned memoirist. Although the book is sad and deals with loss, it also has a lot to say about life.

Miracle Life of Edgar Mint
by
Brady Udall

, June 16, 2009
Although the synopsis of the book makes it seem too whacky and unbelieveable, The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint is fascinating, hilarious, and gut wrenching all at the same time. It is a fairly quick read and a great selection for summer.

Live Through This A Mothers Memoir of Runaway Daughters & Reclaimed Love
by
Debra Gwartney
aunnie
, June 15, 2009
This book was so heart wrenching and at the same time terrific and hopeful. I finished it in less than two days and stayed up late reading it each night. It is a seamless memoir and Gwartney's descriptions of her own defeat and vivid imagery of the lives her daughters lead, make the book a must for nonfiction lovers.

Women
by
T C Boyle
aunnie
, June 15, 2009
T.C. Boyle is true to form in this book which fictionally depicts Frank Lloyd Wright's liaisons with various women. The character of Miriam is awesome. T.C. Boyle paints her to be absolutely wretched, whereas Olgivanna, the Frank's one time mistress puts up with a lot. While the book is fictional, it is an interesting look into the bizarre world of Frank Lloyd Wright.
