Until Tuesday A Wounded Warrior & the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him
by

Though Capt. Montalvan gives all the heartwarming details about life with Tuesday that dog people will melt over, he also gives an honest, matter-of-fact lesson in what it feels like to come home from war wounded in body and mind. I'm glad he has Tuesday for his service dog, whom I think he is entitled to take everywhere he goes. The story of how he couldn't get on a bus makes me want to beat someone up. "Until Tuesday" is an inspiring and engrossing read.

Night Watch

Sarah Waters' poignant story of lovers and heartbreakers in WWII London actually starts after the war and works its way backwards in time. This is a big change from her Victorian melodramas (and I don't mean that in a negative way), but it's just as juicy and it does still leave a lump in your throat.

This is a flawless novel, and I had NO idea it was intended for children. I loved it.
