Wigfield The Can Do Town That Just May Not
by

I LOVE 'Strangers with Candy,' so when I saw this book, I had to read it. Unfortunately it falls short of the usual dry humor that those three had together, and it seems like a far cry from the cult show. Not that it isn't funny, just not worth the day you may spend reading it, unfortunately.

The New Fuck You: Adventures in Lesbian Reading
by
Eileen Myles
misskp
, January 15, 2007
This book is a must read for everybody. Adults and teenagers alike will appreciate these short stories; from the trials and tribulations of coming out, rape, young love and just being alive, each story is emotive, sometimes provocative, as seen through the eyes of lesbians.

Bunny Yeager's Pin-Up Girls of the 1950s
by
Bunny Yeager
misskp
, January 07, 2007
While the cover looks a little on the "orange" side, all of the actual pin-up photographs inside bunny yeager's book are beautifully iconic, perfectly reminiscent of a more innocent time, and all around "cute." Makes me want to put on a little one-piece and romp on the beach!

Calavera Abecedario A Day of the Dead Alphabet Book
by
Jeanette Winter

Such a cute book, and a great way to learn your spanish alphabet! The drawings are great and this book is perfect for kids, but a great addition to anyone's day of the dead collection. Each word has a couple sentences explaining it complete with iconic drawings of skeletons in Mexican garb or participating in Mexican traditions. This is an adorable history lesson!

This is an absolutely ADORABLE book. I collect Day of the Dead stuff, and this is a great part of my collection. This book helps you learn Spanish while brushing up on your Mexican history! The illustrations are cute and well-done, the book is well-written and definitely for any age!

Grapefruit A Book of Instructions & Drawings by Yoko Ono
by
Ono, Yoko
misskp
, December 17, 2006
I bought this book a couple of years ago, much to the discontent to my boyfriend. Of course he had the idea most people have about Yoko Ono, but without reading and understanding her intricate writings and emotive drawings, most opinions are completely unfounded. Yoko Ono's drawings and writings are an important part of feminist culture, music history and generally, just interesting to look at. This book is timeless, and I have it sitting on my mantle. People that come over always pick it up, and seem to say the same thing every time..."I had no idea she was actually an artist, or that she could write." Yoko Ono is definitely much more than that sentence...

Art & Feminism
by
Helena Reckitt
misskp
, December 17, 2006
Art and Feminism is most definitely one of the best books I have read about Art and feminism. Usually, authors lump feminism with hardcore man-hating performance art, forgetting all of the different genres of feminist art. There are subtle pieces of art with feminist overtones, as well as graphic pieces depicting rapes and violence against women. This book embodies all styles of art and all types of feminism, looking beyond the black & white idea of what feminism is, depicting all styles of feminist art in a knowledgeable and interesting way.

Women Race & Class
by
Angela Y Davis
misskp
, December 08, 2006
AMAZING Book. I was required to read this for a class, and was so moved by the passion behind Angela Davis' writing that I continued on reading several of her books. This is a great book to start on when reading Davis' work. She may be extreme in some of her views, but is an integral part of feminist and African American rights history.

Mirror For Humanity

Conrad Phill Kottak

This was a textbook for my Culture class, and I was surprisingly interested in reading it. The book was a good read, interesting stories keep the reader riveted, and points were repeated enough to stick in your memory. The stories are the best part of this book, many of these cultural norms are SO vastly different that they are extremely interesting to read about.

This textbook is a SLOW read. The chapters drag on, so be prepared to take several breaks! Also, I felt many definitions were expected to be already understood, so I had to look them up on the internet.

Tuesdays With Morrie An Old Man A Young & Lifes Greatest Lesson
by
Mitch Albom
misskp
, December 03, 2006
Along with being a sad read, Tuesdays with Morrie is a life changing book. It seriously made me think about where my life was going, how I would handle death, and it made me question my intentions. I wondered if I would be happy with my life if I died tomorrow. Have I done everything I have wanted? Have I treated everyone like I want to be treated, and lived my life with good morals? Tough questions that came about from such a good lil book!

Cunt A Declaration of Independence 2nd Edition
by
Inga Muscio
misskp

Honestly, I LIVE by this book. I have bought several copies to give out to my friends, and they have said the same thing to me! Saying Cunt is an amazing read is an understatement. I reread it each year, spout quotes during heated conversations with friends, cite paragraphs in papers for college, and still continually use the shopping/information guide in the back of the book. This is a must-buy for everyone....I believe it should be a required read for high schoolers, especially boys! This book could change the world!

Bust Guide To The New Girl Order
by
Marcelle Karp
misskp
, December 03, 2006
I have been an avid reader of Bust magazine since it hit the newsstands, so when the book came out, I immediately bought it. I was a little disappointed with the writing compared to the actual magazine, but it was a great read. I will always prefer the magazine, but the Bust Guide is all-around good writing, fun and controversial, and the perfect gift for ANYBODY in your life who reads counter-culture magazines.

How to Walk in High Heels The Girls Guide to Everything
by
Camilla Morton
misskp
, December 03, 2006
Camilla Morton is an amazing writer, adding interesting and telling stories with each 'how-to' guide. I bought this book with intentions on learning how to walk better in high heels, but found myself using many of the guides on a daily basis! Morton is sometimes pretentious, but in sort of a hilarous way. After reading this book, I will never be caught looking bad in public again! Learn to handle everything from talking about 'highbrow art,' to fixing a broken heel at a party, to talking yourself out of a bad situation!
