Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal

Jeanette Winterson

Winterson's memoir made me feel all overwhelmed with sorrow and hope and delight in her gorgeous, gorgeous writing, like most things she writes. I didn't imagine I could like anything better than her fiction, but I think this is my favorite of her works so far.

I simply adored this book. The point of view is tight, the emotional life of the character is vividly expressed AND there is plenty of excitement, humor, sexual tension, and of course demons and magic and all that. Love love love.

If you only ever buy one book on making herbal remedies, this should be the one. Not only is it comprehensive, but it's also just delightful to read. I can cuddle up with it and read it like a novel.

I adore this novel. I hate hot, dry weather, but every time I read it I feel an urge to pack up and move to the desert . . . beautiful, transformative, and satisfying. One of my favorite books ever.

Demons Lexicon

Nick Ryves is NOT a sympathetic character. And yet all through the book, I found myself rooting for him and being curiously drawn to him. Is it just the typical bad-boy mystique, or is it something more? A total page-turner, I pretty much read it in one (very long) sitting, neglecting to make dinner or shower. Action packed, witty dialogue, amazing point of view and character development. Read it read it read it!
