Revenge Of The Middle Aged Woman
by

A quietly enjoyable book, with lots of twist and turns to keep it interesting. It is funny and sad and full of gentle wisdom on life and people in our times. I enjoyed reading it every minute. Rose Lloyd, Middle Aged Woman has such dignity and yet she is very human and I felt I was on her side all the way. I do not know how I would have coped in her situation, but she has my admiration. A lovely, sad and satisfying ramance.

The first of the Cazalet Family books. It is a story about a fascinating family starting before the second ww and is written beautifully with the inner lives of the characters written in a way that makes the character come to life. A funny and enjoyable book which entices you to read the other books in the series.

This is an historical novel with a twist and really appeals to me. The book has a good storyline and the characters believable and well developed. The historical facts about Egypt were very educational and opened my mind to new ideas. Intertwining a family's fate with Egypt's involvement in the war and the Suez crisis makes this an exciting and thought provoking story as well as being a Romantic novel. I have been inspired to get more of Soheir Khashoggi's books.

Poetry For Cats The Definitive Anthology of Distinguished Feline Verse
by
Henry Beard
Pathi
, May 15, 2010
In the Definitive Anthology of Distinguished Feline Verse by Henry Beard you will notice how much influence humans have on cats. Cats will not like having this pointed out. Cats will not play with toys just because you want to play. Cats appear to think independently, but their poetry betrays them. A charming book with cats belonging to many poets that I love and have loved since my school days. The poetry begins at the dawn of time with a verse translation of "Grendel’s Dog", from Beocat by the Unknown Author’s Cat. (translated by the Editor’s cat.) We soon progress to "The Cat’s Tale" by Geoffrey Chaucer’s Cat, written of course in the Middle English of the period. But it is only when we come to "Hamlet’s Cat’s Soliloquy", from the play, Hamlet’s Cat by William Shakespeare’s Cat that we experience the inner monologue of the modern cat’s eternal dilemma: “To go outside, and there perchance to stay/Or to remain within; that is the question:/Whether ‘tis better for a cat to suffer the cuffs and buffets of inclement weather/That Nature rains on those who roam abroad…” A book to keep at your side to dip into for pleasure.

Outlander

Diana Gabaldon

Thrilling, funny, engrossing and a good jumping board to the other books by Diana Gabaldon. I loved every minute of it and then I bought most of the others (from Powells naturally) and I am only missing one. As I intend to start from the beginning, I shall certainly buy the last one. Another aspect of this book is that I love reading the acknowledgments and the stories of Diana Gabaldon herself, I feel that she is a friend of my imagination. If you have not yet read this book, do not waste time, get it and then line up the rest, you will be keen to carry on with this fantastic story. Can't wait for her next one.
