Pastwatch
by
Orson Scott Card
Marsha Kotlicky
, September 10, 2008
Card proves himself a master of alternative history with his revision of the discovery of what became America in another time. Our civilization has damaged the Earth to the point that Mankind cannot survive while the environment corrects itself. Pastwatch has been gathering information about human history and cultures long dead in an attempt to learn from and preserve our past. Now they must find a way to harness technology and use the past to save the future of humanity. The characters are unique, the story engrossing, and the plot develops smoothly to draw the reader into the history of man that might, or should, have been!
