Jenny Greens Killer Junior Year

This is quite possibly the worst book I have ever read in my entire life. I got through the first half and then had to stop, because continuing on was a chore. The main character is a horrifyingly stereotypical depiction of a spoiled teenaged girl, the writing style is horrid; it is as if the most unintelligent and uninteresting valley girl's journal was published. I'm glad I got the book for free, otherwise it would be the worst thing I ever spent money on.

Wicked Lovely 01
by
Melissa Marr

This is a great read. The faerie concept is normally a major turn-off for me, but the way Melissa Marr portrays the faerie courts almost like regular people made the book very easy to fall in love with and follow. The romance in this novel is excellently developed and the characterization is exquisite. It is a dark, sexy novel perfect for any girl fifteen or older.

Mortal Instruments 01 City of Bones
by
Cassandra Clare

This is an excellent novel for both boys and girls ages thirteen and up. I prefer this series to the Twilight saga hands down as the main character, Clary, is much stronger and a better female role model than Stephenie Meyer's Bella was. This novel is full of action, adventure, fantasy, and romance. It's the type of book that will make you laugh out loud, gasp, and jump with fright. I would recommend this book to everyone, even if they're not a fantasy fan; because the fantasy aspect is not overbearing enough for it to be a total fantasy book.

Broken Soup

This is a book that I could not put down. I was sitting in the most uncomfortable position known to man, and all I thought of was the story. It's a great story of a young girl who is carrying her entire family on her shoulders as they all mourn the loss of her older brother. The writing is very poetic, and the characters well-developped. With great twists and turns in the plot, I would highly reccomend this book for anyone over the age of 13. Near the end it gets a little cliché, but all in all a great read.

Spud 01

An overall enjoyable read. It was kind of fun to dip into the mind of an immature young boy. The most interesting aspect of the book, however, is the fact that Nelson Madela's release form prison and all the drama that went along with it is kind tucked in the back of this kid's mind and it's brought up casually here and there but not focused on. It was a cute and witty book all in all.

Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures
by
Vincent Lam

Vincent Lam did a great job at immersing his readers in a medical setting. The book had a bit of medical jargon, but the reference section in the back to explain the potentially unknown words was a definite plus. I would reccomend this book for anyone who enjoys a little drama. Actually, if you watch the TV show "Grey's Anatomy" odds are you will thoroughly enjoy this book!

Skinnybones & The Wrinkle Queen
by
Glen Huser

This was an outrageous and highly enjoyable story of two unlikely companions on a strange journey. 'Skinnybones' is a model wannabe who relucantly attends school... every now and then. But on one day where she decides to go to school, the class takes a trip to an old folks home to give gifts to the old people. 'Skinnybones' gets paired with 'Wrinkle Queen' and so begins the relationship that will change their lives. I would say more about the plot, but that would ruin it! Just read the book; you will NOT be bored or disappointed.

To Dance At The Palais Royale
by
Janet Mcnaughton

For all who love a good romantic historical fiction novel, this should be at the top of your list! It follows a sweet and innocent heroine as she travels to Canada from her home in Ireland to work for money to send home to her family. With memorable characters and a melt-your-heart romance, this book will definitely be one to read over and over again. The only difficulty in the entire book is understanding some of the olden days jargon.

Nature Of Jade
by
Deb Caletti
Kya
, August 04, 2007
Once again, Caletti has created a multitude of greatly realitsic and lovable characters. Jade's panic attacks make the chest of the reader tighten, and as she relaxes so do you. The story follows a lovely romance with a twist at the end that, although predictable to a certain extent, leaves readers thinking, 'Nooo!' It is a lovely read for all who enjoy a feel-good book with a bit of soul.

Its Kind of a Funny Story
by
Ned Vizzini
Kya
, July 16, 2007
The introduction to this book is not the book's strong point, I'm sad to admit. But don't let that turn you off. Once you get over Vizzini's extremely detailed and honest description of this troubled teenaged boy's life, you will find yourself caught up in an astounding story. Through the eyes of this clinically depressed boy, you will see the world in an entirely different way. And once the setting moves to the Psych Ward, a seemingly odd place for our protagonist to find a love interest, you will be even more hooked than before. It is a very realistic description of a Psych Ward and the characters put into it really touch your heart. You'll find yourself donating money to a local Psych Ward in your town's hospital. And when people ask why you chose the Psych Ward of all things to support, you'll merely respond with: "Well, it's kind of a funny story..."
