Big New Yorker Book of Dogs
by
New Yorker
Gus Schreiber
, January 01, 2013
Having this big red book in the house is something like having a big, red, loving dog at your feet to pet and caress. Read it and enjoy stories and essays, cartoons and poems, and a lot of New Yorker cover art featuring dogs of all breeds, all sizes, all temperaments, with a lot to learn both about dog behavior and some of the quirks and characteristics of dog owners. It’s a great read, including a lot about one of America’s favorite literary dog writers and cartoonists, James Thurber. What a treat!

Sky of Red Poppies
by
Zohreh Ghahremani
Gus Schreiber
, November 30, 2012
From the first page of this poignant book about a young woman coming of age in revolutionary Iran, I had a hard time putting it down. Zohreh Ghahremani presents her readers with powerful insights about the social space that separates the social classes as she makes friends with another student, then grows up confronting some frightening revelations. Written three decades removed from events, she presents us with mature, compelling and soul-searching perception about the meaning of friendship under difficult personal and national circumstances.

The Art of Procrastination
by
John Perry

I've been putting off writing this review: procrastination. Now I know why! This book tells all about dilly-dallying and killing time, with humor, wit, and the reasons why. And, not least, the author reveals some of the up sides of procrastination. Don't put off reading it!
