Biggest Bear

Just loved it! It won the 1953 Caldecott award, and is outstanding. This classic brought me back to a simpler time; a joyful nostalgic trip. I couldn't get enough of the sepia illustrations. What a treat from this great artist. It reminded me of my favorite classics, Blueberries for Sal, and Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey. Love those, you will love this. A joyful book to enjoy with a child in your life. Pick it up and smile.

Grandfathers Journey
by
Allen Say
Adelaide

Say's poignant watercolors pulled me to the page in this sweet story of cross-cultural experience. Sparse prose enlivened the pangs and joys of homesickness, as I experienced this book's strong sense of place. I will hold the lessons of this tender rendition of life's gifts and burdens in my back pocket as I move along the earth. Can't wait to share this book with a child.

Three Pigs
by
David Wiesner
Adelaide

Jump in to this work where Wiesner, a three-time Caldecott Award winner, has reshaped this familiar story into a delightful alternate universe. Love the way he reshapes this tale and challenges the relationship between characters and their books. Illustrations pull readers to the page in this loveable, quirky gem. Pigs rule!
