Soul Kitchen
by
Poppy Z. Brite
Josh Hyrkas
, September 30, 2008
Poppy does the gay culture proud. This book was a wonderful (and true to life) insight into New Orleans restaurant life. The ending fell a little flat because not everything was wrapped up into a nice neat little package......but maybe she will fix that with the next book in the series?. We'll see what happens.

World Without Us
by
Alan Weisman

, August 21, 2008
I enjoyed this book immensely....although sadly, it reads kind of like a textbook.....There are many things that make you think in this book. Think about our current impact on the earth, the impact that we have already had, and how/if we can change that impact.

Even though a couple of the patterns are hideous, this is overall another hit for Debbie! Most of the patterns are very modern and attractive. This book has also taught me some new tricks! I couldn't live without this one.

Dolce Italiano Desserts from the Babbo Kitchen
by
Gina Depalma
Josh Hyrkas
, June 30, 2008
This book is absolutely full of delicious desserts. The main problem is you have to have money to make them. Every recipe that I have wanted to make out of this book called for ingredients that most people don't just have lying around unless your from an Italian background. I don't even know where to find Grappa in my area. I wish these recipes were a little more afforable for the average person.

Cell
by
Stephen King
Josh Hyrkas
, June 08, 2008
At first, I thought this was one of the best recent Stephen King books I've read. As I read further though, the book got wordy and long winded. It could have been edited down probably 50 pages. Then I got to the end. This book just cut off....it could have used at least another 25 pages to wrap things up into the nice neat little package we Americans like so much.

Non-stop from beginning to end. Another shining example of what Charlaine Harris does best. Her most delightful book yet with just the right mix of action, drama and comedy. She's outdone herself this time. Leaves you wanting more.

Elizabeth Falkners Demolition Desserts Recipes from Citizen Cake
by
Elizabeth Falkner
Josh Hyrkas
, May 23, 2008
The illustrations were fun. The entire book (including the recipes and illustrations both) were very creative and layed out very well. The few recipes I've tried were wonderful! The main issue I have with this book though, is the beautiful ways the food is displayed in the pictures. Very creative but no home cook in their right mind would be able to recreate that look. All in all, a very good book though and you must read her stories throughout the book!

Alone: A Detective D. D. Warren Novel
by
Lisa Gardner
Josh Hyrkas
, May 21, 2008
I couldn't put this book down. The story starts out strong on the very first page and doesn't let up until the end. Plot twists abound and it will keep you guessing all the way until the very last page. I challenge you to figure out who the bad guys are in this one. This was my first experience with Lisa Gardner but it definitely won't be my last!
