Beautifully crafted, multi-layered, peopled with complex and inspiring characters. I read the last page and wanted to start over again, sure that I'd only just begun to absorb the lessons this book holds for me.

After Life

The novel takes place in the fictional small town of Train Line, New York, home to a community of spiritualists. I was drawn to it because of a childhood experience with a similar community, Casadega, in Florida. I'd always been curious about these people who are considered charlatans by many. Train Line described a city much like the one I'd experienced and it was a bit like traveling back in time to spend some time there with Naomi, a young medium with a secret.
