We take Aylene's review and add another 380 thumbs up from the students at Riverend School. This book has a lovely sense of humor that takes twists and turns not found in other books. It is 'novel' in more than one way! The humor winds its way throughout the story as Chester, the mighty "solid" cat (never fat, just solid) battles with Melanie Watt, the author, for true control! This is a perfect read aloud book- full of places to stop and engage students in higher-order thinking! Bravo Ms. Watt! Bring on more Chester!

The artwork alone in the graphic novel is worthy of the purchase. This is NOT one of the mass produced graphic novels. Each image has been carefully crafted. The plot thickens quickly and develops into a book that you just can't put down. This is a MUST read in both the graphic novel AND fiction category! Library Lotus
