This book is beyond anything I have ever read!! One of my all time favorite books! Her imagination and character development is fantastic!!! Certainly not for the faint of heart, will leave you breathless (Quite literally) for the next story.

I thought this book was a huge waste of time. I did not like the characters, could not care less what happened to them. I actually thought 're-education' was good for them. The book is poorly written as well, with false climaxes that go nowhere. I did not feel the horror of the cultural revolution at all. do not waste your time with this book. There are much better books about China.

I loved this book!! The suspense, the excitement! It is slightly reminiscent of Jane Eyre. Anyone who likes to read a well written book about strong woman, Victorian or otherwise, read this book!! I can't wait to read the next story.
