Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. Snow Valley Heroes A Christmas Tale
by
Robert J. McCarty

Following soon on the heels, er, Paws of their successful prevention of war in Castle in the Mist, the magnificent creatures return once more from the Planet of the Dogs. Snow Valley Heroes, Volume 3 of this continuing saga, again exemplifies the optimum that exists in nature in the form of human kinds best friend. Author Robert J. McCarty has certainly found his voice in this timeless and classic saga of Christmas. His is the gentle, and reassuring voice which comforts the reader as this untold legend of how the Dogs rescued Christmas from the cruel King of the North is finally revealed. More than ever, the illustrations of Stella Mustanoja McCarty provide an added spiritual dimension with their ethereal aura of otherness. Together, the McCarty's have created a world where conflict can and will be resolved by the forces of love and loyalty rather than by the force of might. Mr. McCarty has created a unique body of legends on a Planet of Dogs, which at the conclusion of the third account in his imaginative series brought a tear to the eye and a lump in the throat of this reader long past his adolescence. And so it is.

Castle in the Mist

Several chapters along and I was immediately struck by the richness of Mr. McCarty's words, the detail and description should capture many an imagination. Young and older. " I like it even more than Planet of the Dog's. The author has really done a great job in the follow up and continuation of the saga. Hard to believe it's not in every library and bookstore in the nation. Soon perhaps. Soon because it deserves increasingly wide recognition." Upon completion of the book I was left to wonder "When will this become a full length animated feature film"? Imagine that.

Planet Of The Dogs

Is this intended for we wayward adults who've strayed so distant from nature in the guise of a "young peoples" work of fiction? Since the time when the Dogs first arrived have we failed to listen with our hearts in order to understand them? Are Bob and Stella two souls who see and hear equally what lays upon the open road?. Was I truly raised by Wolf's in Michigan and therefore a not so distant relation? Well? Yes, Yes, Yes & Absolutely Yes! And so dear reader, why is this joyous & universal wonder not in every school library (at least the schools. Please!) across the blue planet? lastly when does the feature length animated film go into production to be directed by Sir Robert McCarty?
