Yes, it's vulgar, but it's also hysterically funny and a refreshingly honest viewpoint. I bought it for my husband, and wound up reading the whole book before I was willing to hand it over. I recommend reading it _before_ criticizing.

One of my favorite books to read to my first grader. Lovely illustrations, a whimsical viewpoint, and phrases that have entered into regular usage (eating sticks and twigs -- you'll see). This is one children's book I regularly give to friends.
