Warriors Dont Cry

This should be a must read for every high school student. The integration of Little Rock Central High School was insane! The prejudice that the nine black kids endured was unbelievable. I found it so alarming that mothers of high school students were so verbally, emotionally, and physically abusive to someone else's child simply because of their skin color! Racism was so pervasive in that city at that time that it makes me wonder how people could be like that. High school rules and access has changed a lot since those days so it was interesting to read about the various deeds the white students preformed in their effort to thwart the integration. It became so obvious that racism is learned behavior. I especially liked to read the words of wisdom imparted by Ms. Beals' grandmother which helped her through this difficult time. That grandmother was so wise and the loving way she helped her granddaughter was beautiful.

Bible The Brick Bible A New Spin on the Old Testament

Do not be misled by the use of Legos, this book is not for children. Additionally, it contains fewer than 1/4 of the books of the Old Testament, so it is not intended to be comprehensive. The author's use of Lego pieces to depict circumcision (pp. 39, 63, 86, 213, 214), checking for virginity, and various war scenes is, most likely, unprecedented. It is what it is, but the title is not representative of the contents. I doubt many of the people whose endorsements are on the back cover of the book actually read it cover to cover.

Childrens Hour 16 Volumes

This is a wonderful set of books for you and your children to read. We had this complete set when I was young (in the late 1970's) and I read through all the volumes. We didn't have an extensive home library, so these books were the main children's books in the house. There are so many classic stories in this set that reading, or even listening to, the stories will provide anyone with a great foundation in literature. So many of today's writers fall back on elements in these original stories. Beware that the volumes are from 1969, so not everything in them will be politically correct.
