I read this for a book group and found all the essays fascinating. Loved her writing and I can understand why she won awards for the nature writing. Made me feel connected to the web of life. Also loved it so much that I bought copies for gifts .

I can't stop talking about this book. I read it before the TV series "Treme" aired and would recommend it to folks for another family's experience. The Zeitoun family were courageous in their experiences after Katrina. I couldn't put the book down. The writing is straightforward and journalistic. This is one of those books that make you want to check out other writings by the author.
