This book is chock full of fun -- 80s references galore, as the reader is immersed in a dystopian world. This is a great book for nerds and non-nerds alike.

Passage
by
Justin Cronin

This was my favorite read from 2010 and I read a slew of them. As a fan of Justin Cronin's previous works, this book deviates less than one would think. I still can tell it is a Cronin novel, even though the subject matter of The Passage's post-apocalyptic world is seemingly millions of miles away from his two other novels revolving around family dynamics. This book makes "vampires" okay to talk about again, in context of Cronin's novel, and should not conjure glares from your peers. It also should be noted that this is only the first book of a yet to be written trilogy. Thus, there is more greatness to come!
