By far my favorite book of 2012. It has a little bit of everything...including an ending that left me a little angry. But the trip to the end was so enjoyable I can forgive the author for the ending.

Safe Haven

Nicholas Sparks

What an awesome change of pace for Nicholas Sparks. Just when I thought I couldn't take one more sappy romance from him, he changes things up and hits it out of the park. This book kept me up late for several nights. I was rapt by the interesting storyline and I LOVED the dual points of view. I especially related to the evil husband's train of thought. He was a truly evil character that I loathed. I wanted to yell "boo & hiss" everytime he appeared on the page. The main characters "Katie" and Alex were highly likeable and easy to relate to. This book is just begging to be made into a movie. And what a movie it will be. The ending threw me for a loop. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised by the twists at the end. Most of Sparks' books have been pretty good, with the exception of the two about the supernatural lights (those were terrible), but this book by Sparks is on a completely different level. The dialogue and pacing was impeccable, the storyline engaging, and the outcome desirable. I can't bestow enough praise on SAFE HAVEN. I loved every minute of it and you will too.
