Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. This is a marvelous, heartwarming story about a woman who decides to end one life-style and begin another. As with any new adventure, it is not without its difficulties and heartaches, but proves to be worth the effort in the end. Readers go with the main character from mucking out stalls to trail rides and the fine art of Dressage. There's drama, lots of humor, romance and even a surprise ending. If you love horses, as I do, this is a must-read book!

This is a heart-warming and heart-rending story, but it has a happy ending in spite of the heart-break. I give it ten thumbs up!

Fine Romance Falling in Love with the English Countryside

For those of us who can't afford a trip to England, this is a wonderful substitute! It captures the beauty and tranquility of several parts of the British countryside, the warmth of the people and the charm of the towns and villages. It is full of lovely little paintings and pictures that will make your heart soar. There are snippets of poems, quotes from several British writers, recipes and song lyrics. Every page is like eating a piece of fine chocolate (white chocolate in my case). It is simply a marvelous book!

Finding Camlann

Ledgends! Myths! Even a little romance! This intriguing story offers another explanation of the mystery that is Arthur. It meanders through the rugged Welsh countryside, pokes into ancient burial mounds and makes an archaelogical discovery or two. While the action isn't edge of your seat, the reader will find him or herself waiting impatiently to find out what comes next. It is a thoughtful and enjoyable read. It also leaves the reader to draw his or her own conclusions.

Complete Encyclopedia Of Vegetables & Vegetarian

I fell in love with this cookbook! It is a marvelous collection of recipes from all around the world. The first section lists vegetables by category--shoots and stems, greens, roots, etc. I've made many of the dishes, and they've all become favorites. The recipes, for the most part are easy, there are step-by-step directions, and the photographs are marvelous. I spend a great deal of time just browsing through the book looking at the pictures. There is everything from soups to main meals to drinks and desserts. If you are looking for an adventure in vegetarian cooking, I highly recommend this cook-book.

What a marvelous story! Delores seemed like such a real person, it almost felt like I was reading an autobiography. Her journey should give all of us imperfect women hope!

I first read this book about 20 years ago. Even though the writing is dated, it's still a ripping good story, full of romantic notions and lots of unlikely coincidences, all sorts of adventures and a wonderfully happy ending for everyone. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good story.
