American Fascists The Christian Right & the War on America
by
Chris Hedges
Geoffrey
, April 13, 2007
Chris Hedges is a brilliant author, and having thoroughly enjoyed War Is A Force That Gives Us Meaning, I decided to purchase this book. Hedges has a background in theology, having attended Harvard's school of divinity, and his education and real life experiences as a war correspondent who has travelled the world allows him to approach this book with poise and insight. American Fascists is well written with an important argument that people need to reflect upon before reacting. The ideological shift of modern Christianity is worrisome for individuals who value a liberal society and education, and Hedges book is wonderful for its research and insight into the subject.

Moscow 1941 A City & Its People at War
by
Rodric Braithwaite
Geoffrey
, December 10, 2006
Moscow 1941 is one of the best books written on the subject of the Eastern Front in the Second World War, and indeed I think this book is one of the best accounts of people at war period. What I enjoyed most about the book was that the people of Moscow and Russia were the focus of the story, and although there is a slight amount of military history this is not a military account of the battle. Unfortunately the Cold War distorted or propogandized so much about the Russian war effort, but Sir Braithwaite does an excellent job bringing to light their stories in a balanced and informative manner. The narrative is fast moving and informative, and although the outcome is known you are pulled towards the end with an immense amount of curiousity and interest. Highly recommended!
