Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society

'Oh, a letters book,' I thought, but then I got drawn in. I wanted to know all about the Society members, their quirks, their stories. Would Juliet stay or write and go? What about Elizabeth, had she survived? The characters all became friends in whom I was thoroughly invested. If only Mary Ann Shaffer had survived, how many more of these wonderful stories could we have enjoyed?

As ever, fforde takes our minds off at a tangent, making us rethink what we thought we knew as established facts and creates a brilliantly funny and involving story. Another fforde masterpiece!

If you thought that The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo dragged you through the wringer, wait until you read this one - and then the third one in the series. Outstanding, gripping storytelling at it's very best.

A worthy successor to Douglas Adams who takes the ball and really runs with it taking us to new areas of our mind seeking out the intellectual you never knew you were. Damn funny too!
