The Six SIGMA Manual for Small and Medium Businesses: What You Need to Know Explained Simply
by
Baird, Craig

The Six Sigma Manual for Small and Medium Businesses: What you Need to Know Explained Simply is an organized, easy-to-read guide that breaks down business management strategies proven to work for customer and entrepreneur satisfaction. Once considered a "trade secret" for fortune 500 companies, this book is now an openly-shared resource for anyone looking to increase efficiency and profit. What surprised me was how easy it was to understand, given the education, popularity, and impact behind it. Six Sigma has broken down two scientific methods proven to work, each into their basic components -- DMADV and DMAIC. Giving the highest importance to customer satisfaction, the author, Craig D. Baird, has done an excellent job in not only providing a positive attitude toward achieving similar business goals, but also in continuing to pique my interest as a reader. The index provides simple navigation throughout the book and the glossary is an excellent reference tool in untangling our business-world jargon. Definitely a book recommended for owners of any size business looking to boost customer satisfaction. And, isn’t that what we ALL want!!

The Complete Guide to IRAS & IRA Investing: Wealth-Building Strategies Revealed
by
Martha Maeda

The Complete Guide to IRAs and IRA Investing: Wealth-Building Strategies Revealed is a simple yet thorough guide to explaining how individual retirement accounts exist and operate, and how they can be beneficial to this generation's retirement plans. As an inexperienced twenty-five year old woman, I had no idea what an "IRA" was until I picked up the book and, at first, had no intentions whatsoever of learning about them. Martha Madea's book honestly changed my mind and has woken me up to the realization that where we stand financially in this world, we cannot depend on Social Security by the time my generation retires. And the best part? It wasn't confusing at all! From it's easy-to-understand explanations of both standard and flexible accounts, to it's educated and detailed rules for helping investors ask correct questions in order to determine what plan is right for them, this book definitely accomplishes all the goals the author set. Even at 362 pages and four sections, this guide is easy to follow and read. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking to not only make the best choices for their personal financial plans, but also to anyone who wants to understand the realities of where our generation is heading, and how we can prevent ourselves from sinking before it's too late.

How to Open & Operate a Financially Successful Landscaping, Nursery, or Lawn Service Business [With CDROM]

How to Open and Operate A Financially Successful Landscaping, Nursery, or Lawn Service Business: With Companion CD-ROM is a beneficial necessity for anyone looking to start a business of their own. But, don't let the cover fool you. This guide can be used as a reference for any kind of business. Complete with 290 easy-to-read pages, it is a realistic portrayal of what developing a business truly means. It is broken down into nine sections with step-by-step instructions. The format helps in strategizing and creating a distinct "personality" for your business, ultimately becoming the anchor that will bring in your customers. The author is very responsible in explaining not only the background of business development and management, but also the details on financing and hiring as well, going into such distinct detail as to what equipment will work best for your particular goals. From the opening sentence, we can be assured that nothing is sugar-coated: "This book does not sell dreams - rather, it shows you, step by step, how to make your personal dream for working for yourself in the outdoors come true." It explains how "passion" is a great first step, but cannot be the only driving force. Taking a very holistic approach to entrepreneurship, the book even examines how knowing yourself and your limits before you open your business will be beneficial in the long run. And, to help give you a better understanding of what that truly means, it's equipped with a Personality Quiz (my favorite part!). The layout of the book flows seamlessly, from the basics all the way down to the "nitty gritty" details. The resource section in the back of the book is an excellent tool for aspiring business owners. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to be profitable with their business.
