One River: Explorations and Discoveries in the Amazon Rain Forest
by
Wade Davis
Steven Monrad
, October 17, 2017
The definitive narrative history of Richard Evans Schultes and his ethnobotany studies and other endeavors in the Amazon regions, the cultures and exploitation there, and Davis's own followup studies and adventures there as a modern protêgé of Schultes and a scientist in his own right, among others involved. Davis is a gifted descriptive writer. The book reads like great history, emotional evocations of beauty, learning and great perils and deliberate harms.

Soul of the Night An Astronomical Pilgrimage
by
Chet Raymo
Steven Monrad
, April 06, 2014
An amazing book that draws you in like a skillful mystery, covering the astronomical world in a poetic way, at the same time explaining our own many relationships to what is essentially known only through glimpses and calculations.
