I don't really know what else to say, this book was awesome, I loved the story and the characters seemed very believable, the story follows Alastiar Coldhollow in his search to find the Halfain, but an unexpected turn of events leaves him disheartened... Until an infant is unexpectedly thrust upon him. This is probably my favorite book by Wayne Thomas Batson!

In the continuation of The Door Within trilogy, author Wayne Thomas Batson weaves another masterful story about the mirror realm. This time it is Aidan's new friend Antoinette Reed who is called into the Realm shortly after Aidan meets her. After entering the Door Within, Antoinette is called to be the twelfth knight in a mission to Yewland. What follows is a harrowing journey through the mysterious Blackwood in which they find the hiding place of the Seven Sleepers. However, they finally make it to see the queen of Yewland. They discover that some Paragor knights have just recently left and go after them. Because of a rather unfortunate short-cut, Aelic (Aidan's Glimpse) and Antoinette arrive before the others. Antoinette learns that Paragor's right hand man Kearn, is actually the glimpse of Robby, Aidan's friend. While in our world Antoinette was asked to try to reach him for King Eliam. Antoinette barely stops Aelic from killing Kearn and he escapes. Later that night, Antoinette sneaks out of the castle at Yewland and takes a dragon to Baen-Edge. While there she finds a young Yewland girl who is being sold as a slave and buys her with her sword and sets her free. The continue after Kearn until Antoinette is captured by him. Paragor has released the Wyrm lord to wreak havoc on the free nations of the realms. Will the armies of Alleble hold fast or will they break before the Wyrm lord?

A world of knights, glimpses and strange beasts. After Aidan reads the scrolls he enters the door within and starts off on some amazing adventures. Called by King Eliam to be the twelfth knight on an expedition to Mitheguard, Aidan and his glimpse friend Gwenne finally reach the city after being separated from the company by a Tempest. Already there are some of the enemy's knights hoping to convince the city to join their master, Paragor. Now Aidan finds himself alone, battling hoards of the enemy and seeking out a deadly creature called a Mortiwraith. Berinfell Prophecies 02 Venom & Song

Personally, I liked this book better than the first, it seemed to bring more out in the characters I was able to learn a little more about each one. It also gave us a chance to see how the seven lords work together as a team, each using their powers to help each other. Story-wise, it opened up a lot more about the elves and what they do, we see that they're really fighting a losing battle, just barely hanging on. We also find out about a dark secret in the elves history. The young lords are sent to a special training ground but are interrupted by an attack sent by the Spider King. They set out on a journey to find an ancient elven relic, to use in their fight against the Spider King. When they return they take part in a final attempt to defeat the Spider King... Or die trying.

Berinfell Prophecies 01 Curse of the Spider King
by

While a little confusing of a read the first time around (there are a lot of characters) I really enjoyed Curse of the Spider King, and while I was a little sorry not to get the Allyra until the very end I look forward to it's sequel: Venom and Song. The story really begin 800 years ago in the Elven land of Allyra, where the children of the seven elven lords are kidnapped and sent to Earth. Skip ahead about 11 or 12 earth years as the elven lords reach the age of reckoning, and age where their hidden gifts and powers start showing themselves. Elven sentinels sent to earth to find and bring back the young lords but they are not the only ones searching, Drefids, dangerous minions of the Spider King r are also looking for them in order to finish the job they did not dare to do before. As the elves try to return to Allyra they encounter more and more resistance until it finally reaches a climactic battle in Scotland where remains the last open portal.
