Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I really enjoyed this book , it gave a bit of an insight that we all feel there is something just behind a thin curtain , if only we allow ourselves to push it away. Very funny , very optimistic. I highly recommend.

Lord of the Rings 3 Volumes Illustrated by Alan Lee

I have read the series 3 or 4 times , my daughter got me this set for Christmas last year. It is printed on heavy stock with a semi-gloss finish, the books are hard covered with a board covered in fabric cover with a gold representation of Tolkiens initials. It comes in a nice box with paper dust jackets for each book. Even though the books are a little heavy ( not for mobile reading ). This is a great library version for the home. Great illustrations by Lee also. A bit pricey but Worth it !

The Complete Book of Marionettes

This was a very nice book. It was originianly published in the 50's reprinted in 1975 and this version in 2005. Some of the social references are a bit dated and some of the technology is older , but the basics are good and it is worth the read on this topic.
