I can't rate this since I haven't read it ... yet. But I will! I've often decried the fact that the present generation gives their children too much too soon. We've created this monster and don't know the way out. I'd love to win this book, but I'll read it regardless.

The Grace of Silence: A Family Memoir

I haven't read this book yet. I just saw another blog that lead me here. I can hardly wait to get it. It's so difficult, but so classy, to be able to remain silent when one is being wronged. My Chinese mother-in-law was an educated lady and so sweet. People often yelled when they spoke to her, as though she couldn't hear. While her English was impeccable, she had a slight accent. I wanted to ask those who looked sideways at her, "And how well do you speak HER language?" It's no wonder that whites are known as 'the ugly Americans.' My biggest dream is for all racism to end. I'm afraid I won't live to see it.
