Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. Ok, here I am nearing the end of another Neal Stephenson book, in this case, Reamde, and I am getting that familiar verklempt feeling of sadness that it is almost over - another Neal's wild ride! And no where I ever expected him to take me from Eritrea to Iowa, from Manila to Seattle, from Xiamen to the wilds of the BC border, I have been having so much fun, I never want it to end, not to mention learning all about gold farming and guns. For a second there, I thought it was about me (born in Seattle, raised in Iowa and back in the NW now) Thank you Neal and by the way, I'm thinking the protagonist and his two brothers are you.

Ok, this book was really hard to get through but I am so sucked into this series. I hear that Universal pulled the plug on this production, too bad it would have been awesome. I'm on the fourth book now and am firmly in its grasp!
